The Serf Report

Five Italian Special Forces soldiers were badly wounded by an IED in Iraq. They were involved with the ongoing mission to train Iraqi forces in the struggle against ISIS.

These men were working out of a US base. US forces are involved in the same mission. Sonce 20001 nearly 7,000 US troops have lost their lives in the region. Almost the number of co tractors have also lost their lives. Nothing has been gained in this seemingly endless conflict.  This begs the question, why is the US still involved in this quagmire?

Why are western forces still training Iraqis? The Iraqis are worse than the ARVN. At least some Vietnamese troops had been westernized by the French and saw the US as their allies.

It is well past the time to pull western forces out of the region. Let the locals deal with their own problems. If anyone is worried about the Chinese taking over, just imagine what they will do to the insurgents. The Chinese are not constrained by the same humanitarian concerns that hold back western forces. It might mean that we will have to buy oil from China. So what? We already subsidize their economy with our terrible trade policies.
