The Australian government is asking citizens to turn in footage of any anti-lockdown protesters. It seems that the pandemic is being used as a tool to crack down on dissidents. Such a policy is not what one thinks of when imagining Australia. Unfortunately, this is commonplace. Indeed, many western nations, especially those of the old Commonwealth, have devolved into places where a handful of public servants dictate policies that work against the will and welfare of the native populations. This is what the modern police state looks like--tyranny by technocrats.

A note on communist anti-protest tactics in Cuba.
After watching footage of the ongoing protests it is clear that the Cuban communists mix plain clothed enforcers in with their uniformed police. This makes it easier to surprise the protesters. The citizens focus on the police, and are suddenly rushed from all sides by people that they thought were just bystanders. Minutes later, another group brings in a vehicle into which the protesters are thrown and then carted away.
It is not clear who the plain clothed enforcers are in these videos. They could be military or local poloce. Perhaps, these are the communists party "volunteers" who the regime called upon to attack protestors. Either way, they look to be better dressed and fed than the average citizen. That fact alone should help in identifying and targeting these perpetrators.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the US is no longer the world's economic superpower. Years of de-industrialization, and free trade policies have destroyed the American economy. Indistrial and political leaders who placed their own desires for wealth above the welfare of the nation turned the American dream into an opiate fueled nightmare. Most economists won't admit it, but China has surpassed the US economy. This is obvious when one observes the way in which the new economic hegemon treats US companies--not as potential customers, but as lowly vassals.

Cuban police have repeatedly fired on crowds of unarmed protestors. Independent journalists have live-streamed videos of numerous attacks from various towns since the protests began last weekend. In every instance the gunfire was effective in breaking up the protests. It seems, however, that the Cuban people are now fighting back. In one video, published by Breitbart News, police firing into a crowd were pelted with rocks in response. This, along with news of the death of General Agustín Peña Porres, might signal that the communist dictatorship is losing control of the situation.

Several Cuban citizens recently shared footage of state police rounding up protesters. Communist Party enforcers are sweeping the streets and throwing alleged dissidents into trucks. There are also numerous videos streaming from the island of civilians reporting acts of violence inflicted on them and/or their relatives by those same forces.
This is what the socialist dream looks like. Its nothing more than a police state that crushes the human will and libertad.

President Trump released a statement regarding the ongoing protests in Cuba. This could be the strongest pro-Cuban freedom message uttered by any American president. It is critical of both the Cuban and Anerican regimes. It is also a call to action aimed at Biden's flaccid response to this historic moment.

The Cuban government reported the first fatality linked to the ongoing protests.
I doubt that this was actually the fist person killed during the protests. And, knowing the history of the socialist dictatorship, I doubt that he will be the last. Indeed, the situation seems to be spiraling out of control.
Protests are taking place all over the island. There are unconfirmed reports of several police stations being attacked. It seems that the Cuban people have finally grown tired of the boots on their necks. That's certainly more than we can say for the Americans who witnessed a federal thug murder an unarmed woman in the Capitol and have failed to respond.

The island of Cuba is witnessing mass demonstrations concerning food and medicine shortages. These gatherings have been punctuated by calls for Libertad. Apparently, the workers have grown tired of their paradise. Protests have spread to South Florida where members of the Cuban diaspora are holding demonstrations in the streets of Miami and Hialeah. Some members of that community are even petitioning the Biden administration for a military intervention.
The Cuban government, and some within the US, blame these shortages on the US embargo (1960-present). This argument, however, is baseless. It ignores the fact that Cuba is free to trade with every other nation on the planet. Even the Helms-Burton Act (1996) which placed additional restrictions on US businesses and trade partners had no effect on the availability of food or medicine. These shortages and accompanying economic problems are political in nature.
The true culprit is Cuba’s socialist system. The regime has survived for so long only because it was propped up by third parties for most of its existence. Indeed, the economy nearly ground to a halt after the Cold War when the flow of Soviet aid dried up. Cuba experienced a slight recovery from this “Special Period” through some reforms, foreign loans, and by exploiting remittances sent by the exile community to relatives on the island. This policy has led to massive debt and diminishing trade. As early as 2003 Cuba’s economy was labeled one of the “riskiest…in the world” barely ahead of “Angola, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Iraq.” Indeed, as one prominent member of the exile community recently stated: “Cuba has embargoed itself.”
The Cuban government has no one else to blame for its troubles but itself. The regime has stifled not only freedom, but economic growth by exercising such an absolute control over the lives of its citizens. Cuban people are not free to improve their lives. It was only a matter of time before the dictatorship faced this kind of uprising. It shouldn't surprise anyone on or off the island that the cries of libertad are now echoing through its streets.

Until recently, the USAF had the toughest physical fitness standards. They are now back to "chair force" levels where most servicemen can easily walk their way through the exam. Obviously, and not surprisingly, someone at the top of the food chain had his head up his ass. The old standardswere too tough. The Air Force was losing its most experienced soldiers (I still can't bring myself to use their ridiculous term: "war fighter") who couldn't run as fast as twenty year old Marines.This proved detrimental because the service lost years or decades of experience every time that a veteran mechanic was kicked out because he couldn't meet the new standards. The solution should have been a PT test that took age into account given the older, more experienced, men more time to complete their runs. The exam should have required older men to pump out fewer push-ups and sit-ups in order to pass. Being a mostly technical force, the Air Force should also have adopted different requirements for the nerdy techs than it did for security forces Unfortunately, policy-makers never seem to get it right. The military always seems to be run by low IQ political types, instead of the apex soldiers who should be in charge.
